"Wild, Wild West" Theme for McCall Winter Carnival

The 2008 McCall Winter Carnival is set for January 25 through February 3 and will have the theme, "Wild, Wild West." This year's event will continue with many of the traditions of carnivals past, such as elaborate snow sculptures, Monte Cristo Night, the Mardi Gras Parade and the popular beer garden. In addition this year, some new events will be added, including an extreme rider snowmobile event and locally designed commemorative pins and shirts. Also new this year is the ability to purchase items such as events tickets, merchandise and sponsorship opportunities onnline with a credit card. There are too many more events to count, so mark your calendars and get ready to have a wild, wild, wild wonderful time!

Halloween Haunted House

A haunted house will open to the public over five days at the former Adams County Courthouse in downtown Council. The "Old Adams County Courthouse Haunting" will be held Friday, October 26 through Wednesday, October 31, except for Sunday, October 28, starting at 7pm each night. Admission will be $3 per person with children age 2 and younger admitted free. Proceeds will be used by the organizing group to make the event bigger and better in future years. National Guard Band to perform at Scarecrow Festival

Performances by the 25th Army Band Jazz/Rock Combo and the Starlight Mountain Theatre will highlight the 2007 Cascade Scarecrow Festibal October 19-21. Six members of the 25th Army Band will perform in the Cascade American Legion Hall. The free concerts will begin at 7pm on Oct. 19 and 1pm on Saturday Oct. 20.

Wellness Fair at The Hunt Lodge Oct. 20

We will be hosting the first local Wellness Fair here at The Hunt Lodge / Holiday Inn Express. It will take place Saturday, October 20 from 9am-5pm and is free to the public. Vendors such as personal trainers, naturopathic physicians, organic beef growers, nutritional supplements, massage therapists, organic tea makers, brain enhancement trainers, physical therapy, and nutritionists will have samples, brochures, and free demonstrations. Door prizes of vendor samples will be drawn at the end of the day and various wellness talks will be given throughout the day from select vendors. A silent auction of various donated items from local businesses will also be held for Long Valley Families in crisis. For more info call 208-634-6761.

American Legion Friday Night Socials

Starting October 26, American Legion Post 60 of Cascade will open Legion hall's lounge to all Legionnaires and their guests in a continuing effort to improve the Legion hall and instill a sense of ownership among all Legionnaires. Drinks, light snacks and fellowship will be available from 5pm to 10pm every Friday evening.
